The Purpose and Missions of the Band

The purpose of St Patrick's Pipe Band of Sacramento is to support the following band missions:

      • To promote & spread devotion to St. Patrick, co-patron of the Sacramento Catholic Diocese, known for his great Faith.

      • To maintain a traditionally structured bagpipe band in the Sacramento area for Catholics, providing musical support in Catholic processions & pro-life events.

      • To provide a place for men, young & old to play martial music together, bearing in mind and spirit the Jesuit motto:  “Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam!” encouraging virtue among its members and listening audiences.

      • To compete at an appropriately graded level in the Western U.S. Pipe Band Association, as a means to improving skills and promoting unity among the members.

      • To train its membership in the practice of manly catholic virtue, and to go out into the world, courageously providing a lay Catholic presence in the community.

      • To constantly & continually pray for each other, band benefactors, and the success and missions of the band.

      • To sing traditional canntaireachd, and learn traditional bagpipe and drum musical notation.
